Field Trip to Fire Station
25 March 2016
We always thought that fire fighter is responsible to extinguish fire. That's all. Beyond our understanding, the fire fighters' job is much more than that. We finally visited the fire station to learn more about their profession.

When we arrived at the fire station, the fire fighters welcomed us. They were very friendly. Then they introduced themselves and explained a little bit about what they do as fire fighters. They do not only extinguish fire, but also save lives (either humans or animals). When there is an accident, they might be there to save the victim. When there flood happens, they might be there also. Even when a cat stuck on the tree, they might be there to help the cat.

After listening to the explanation, the fire fighters gave us a chance to try to be little fire fighters. We wore small uniforms. Our first job was to save one of our friends who is pretending to be in an accident. The fire fighters helped us how to drag the cart (since we could not lift it). The second job was to save a cat on a tree. The fire fighters helped us again because we could not reach the cat. The final job was to extinguish fire! This was what we were waiting for! Apparently the hose was very heavy. We had to work together to lift it. It was getting heavier when the water came out, so that a fire fighter should help us hold the hose. After several minutes, we successfully extinguished the ifre.

Being a fire fighter is not easy. A fire fighter holds a big responsibility for society. We are grateful having responsible fire fighters we have in Bandung. (JP)
